Here’s what to do, step by step:
preparation
Read through our proposed Active
Ideas so that you are clear what they are about.
school council/forum meeting
Talk about and plan how you will
find out what other children and adults in your school or group
think about the Active Ideas we have suggested. Your first question could
be: ‘How
will we encourage everyone to join in and help us to come up with
some fantastic ideas?’. You’ll find more help in
In the school council/forum.
plan your consultation
Decide who is doing what. Team member jobs will help you with your decisions. Use the Planner to plan your consultation step by step.
You need to think about how you are going
to tell people about the consultation. You could ask your headteacher
or group leader whether you can talk to the other children and teachers about
the Active Ideas in assembly soon. Remember the closing date is 23 May. There
is more help in Assembly. Have a look at Promotion for ideas how to promote your project.
our active ideas
Spend time during school council/forum meetings
thinking about each of the ideas in turn. There's an Active
Ideas presentation you could use. Think about how the ideas would
work, and perhaps how you would change or develop them. Or you might have a completely
new idea for Active Kids. Then
ask your council/forum reps to talk them through with their classmates
and teachers or group leaders. You could use our
Questionnaire to
help you find out what everyone wants.
your own active ideas
Look at the results from the questionnaires. Compare the answers to each question
and write down the favourite ones. Start developing your ideas from there.
consultation
Ask your council/forum reps to take the ideas
you've developed back to their classes. Ask your teachers or
group leaders if all the children can spend some time, perhaps in
PSHE/PSE/PSD, thinking and talking about these ideas and adding new
ones of their own. Keep going until you’re
really happy and excited about the Active Ideas you’ve come up with.
collect your data
Get together all the responses from
your consultation. See which ideas come up a lot or you think are really
good. Write them down.
feedback to your school or group
Let everyone know what you have
found out. You could do this in an assembly or newsletter or during your
class council meetings.
send your ideas
To Sainsbury’s Active Kids
Get Talking by 23 May. Go to How
to enter for the entry form plus handy hints for making a good application
and information about what the judges are looking for. You can
enter as many ideas as you like. Just remember to fill in an
entry form for each of them.
